Removal Policy
How and when platform listings may be updated, marked review-due, removed, archived, or reinstated.
Removal is an editorial decision based on available evidence. It is not automatic and is not guaranteed by a single request. This page explains the process.
Listing states
A listing may move between the following states:
- Updated — information is corrected or refreshed.
- Marked review due — the listing is approaching its scheduled re-check.
- Marked temporarily unavailable — the platform is not currently operational but may return.
- Removed from active listings — the listing is taken off the active directory.
- Archived — the listing is preserved in a public archive with an explanation.
- Reinstated — a previously removed or archived listing is restored.
Reasons a platform may be removed
- Platform closure or official shutdown
- Broken or inaccessible service
- Nonfunctional login or core workflow
- Misleading categorization that cannot be resolved
- Domain ownership change
- Persistent inability to verify service operation
- Material security or trust concerns supported by evidence
- Legal or regulatory restrictions
- Platform request, reviewed by the directory
How decisions are made
Removal decisions are made by the editorial team based on available evidence. We do not remove listings solely on request without review. When a listing is removed, the reason is documented in the update log.
Requesting a change
If you believe a listing should be updated, marked review-due, removed, or reinstated, submit a request using the form below. Provide as much evidence as possible. We review all requests but do not promise automatic action.
